About Us
Founded in 1878, Leicestershire Tennis Club is a friendly member-owned club with its own freehold grounds in Stoneygate, just to the south of Leicester city centre. Membership is open to all and the club encourages the recruitment of a diverse and inclusive membership in terms of ethnicity, religion and sexual orientation.
Leicestershire is the largest tennis club in the county and one of the largest in Britain. There are 18 tennis courts, 14 artificial grass and four macadam, two squash courts, and associated changing and shower facilities in the clubhouse.
The club offers a wide range of playing opportunities, entering teams in a wide range of competitions and leagues, as well as organising internal leagues and tournaments. Members are encouraged to arrange their own matches and informal mix-ins privately, with the large number of courts at the club facilitating maximum participation.
The clubhouse boasts a professionally run bar, by bar manager Steve Parker, where light meals and snacks are available alongside a full range of drinks, including draught beer and lager, wines and spirits, and soft drinks.
Management is through general manager, Liz Harris, overseen by an elected committee, and there is a professional groundsman, Martin Byrne.
