Social Tennis

Here at The Leicestershire Lawn Tennis Club we recognize the importance of social tennis to our members and endeavour to ensure that playing opportunities are available all year round. Social tennis is the ideal way for new and existing members to meet, play tennis together and afterwards socialise in the comfort of the Clubhouse.

CLUB NIGHTS

With a total of 18 courts available in the summer and 9 floodlit courts in the darker months, our Club is in the happy position of being able to allocate a number of courts for Club Nights whilst still retaining playing opportunities for members who may wish to arrange their own fours. For three nights every week throughout the year there are courts reserved for members to ‘mix in’ with other members so, with no partners nor opponents to make arrangements with, our members can just turn up and be assured of a game.

Tuesday Nights are MIXED MIX-INS: just turn up from 6.00pm and join in. Play rotates throughout the evening so members are assured of several games with different partners and opponents.

Wednesday Nights are MEN’S MIX-INS: when men of all abilities may play doubles through the evening, from 6.00pm until about 7.45pm, after which they retire to the comfort of the clubhouse to discuss the finer points of tennis.

Thursday Nights are LADIES’ MIX-INS and run on the same basis as the Men’s Mix-ins on Wednesdays. As with the men, refreshing drinks in the bar beckon after the end of play!

These three dedicated evenings every week, all year round, form a friendly, informal and valuable way for our new members to become acquainted with the Club and their fellow members!

CLUB TENNIS

In addition to the regular Mix-ins and individually-arranged tennis, the Club is very proud of its ability to provide further playing opportunities for social tennis.

Mixed Doubles. The Club is justifiably proud of its thriving Mixed Doubles Leagues which are played both during the summer and under floodlights in the winter. Around 70+ members compete in these popular Doubles Leagues which, with around seven or eight divisions and regular promotions and relegations, ensure enjoyably competitive matches between doubles players of similar abilities.

Singles. Both Men and Ladies have their own organised Singles Leagues offering singles play on a competitive basis: helpful to those who wish to get more exercise and have a change from doubles!
